It works by inhibiting the function of a chemical messenger (serotonin) in the brain, which can induce nausea and vomiting during treatment for cancer (chemotherapy) or after surgery. Precautions For Ondansetron Tablets 

Normally, Ondansetron Tablets should be given 30 minutes to 1 hour before meals, while the orally disintegrating tablet or oral soluble film should be taken 15 minutes before meals. It has a quick onset of action and begins functioning within 30 minutes. Take another dosage if the patient vomits within one hour of taking a dose.
